The article analyses the demographic factor of social risks in the region via comparising the results of two research methods: sociologic surveys of the Republic of Mordovia residents and matrix correlation of official statistics data. The respondents mentioned material and financial status as a major problem causing numerous social and demographic risks. The survey results were confirmed by the method of variables correlation analysis technique.
