RESEARCH OF COMPETITIVENESS OF INNOVATIVE CLUSTERS IN THE REPUBLIC OF MORDOVIA

The article considers the prospects for the formation of innovative regional clusters in the Republic of Mordovia. SWOT-analysis was conducted, what helped to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of innovation clusters in the republic, opportunities and threats of their development, the impact of clusters on the socio-economic development of the region. A number of promising trends and potential problems associated with the formation of innovative regional clusters in the country was identified. The cluster’s potential growth, the costs and benefits arising from their development were estimated. The obtaining of a positive synergy effect on the clustering of the regional economics was substantiated. This effect is proceeding in the form of increasing of competitiveness and investment attractiveness not only for members of each cluster, but for the republic’s economics and the national economics as a whole. It was stressed, that there is the need to integrate activity of government, businesses and other participants in the innovation and investment process in the formation of clusters as a basis for sustainable socio-economic development of the region.
