THE ACTIVITIES OF POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS IN MORDOVIAN REGION ON THE THRESHOLD OF THE FIRST RUSSIAN REVOLUTION

The article deals with the activities of social revolutionaries in the territory of the contemporary Republic of Mordovia, formerly included in the Penza province, in 1903. The said year was the peak of the pre-revolutionary activities of the Socialist Revolutionary Party in the territory of the Saransk and Insar counties. The article describes the scale and various forms of revolutionary activity and propagandizing illegal literature by local socialist-revolutionaries as a predominant form. The author investigates the propagandist activity of the first socialist-revolutionary organizations in the territory of the present Republic of Mordovia, reveals the geography of spreading of the socialist-revolutionary publications in the territory of the Saransk, Insar and Krasnoslobodsk counties. The material of the article allows concluding that forms of struggle of the Socialist Revolutionary Party with local authorities were very different from simple leaflets up to force against their opponents.
