Area of Scientific Interest: mechanization, electrification, automation of agroindustrial production.
Contribution: Ya. P. Lobachevskiy has made a significant contribution to the development of following scientific directions: technologies and technical means of mechanization, electrification and automation of agricultural industry, resource-saving technologies, processes and machines in agroindustry. He has studied the problems of energy efficiency and environmental safety of technological processes and functional technologies. He has researched automated and robotized technologies and technological tools for crop production, optimization of technological process control in crop production, machine system optimization for horticulture, modeling, principles of substantiation and development of machine systems and technologies. His works raise the problems of optimizing parameters and modes for operation of working tools and actuators of agricultural machinery and equipment, technologies and technical means for rehabilitation of degrading areas of land. He made a significant contribution to the development of methods of hardening heavy-duty working tools and parts of soil cultivating and reclamation machines. Ya. P. Lobachevskiy studied physical, mechanical and technological properties of agricultural materials, history of science and technology, namely patterns of scientific and technological potential development, priority directions of science and technology, scientific schools, scientific theories, and priority groups of machines.
